Procedures

Procedures we support

At Mexican embassies and consulates in any country, passport offices and the SAT, Mexico's tax authority. For the ones people ask about most, we have guides with the requirements, the 2026 costs and their official sources.

Last reviewed:

We are a private service. The appointment is free at citas.sre.gob.mx and citas.sat.gob.mx and you can do the procedure yourself. If you prefer our support, we charge for our service.

In short

  • Visas for Mexico, from any country where Mexico has an embassy or consulate.
  • Passports, at the offices of Mexico’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (SRE) in Mexico and at any consulate, and consular procedures for Mexicans who live outside Mexico.
  • Procedures with the SAT that require an appointment at an office.
  • In all of them, the same support: guidance, document review, the appointment when one is needed, preparation and follow-up. We describe it in detail in Services.

Visas for Mexico

For people of another nationality who apply for a visa at a Mexican embassy or consulate: visitor, student, residence, or with authorization from the National Institute of Migration (INM), known as the NUT. It is done in person, with an interview.

Passports and consular procedures

For Mexicans, in Mexico and abroad:

  • passport, first-time or renewal, for adults and for minors, at the SRE passport offices in Mexico or at any consulate;
  • abroad, birth registration of children born outside Mexico, which is how dual nationality is obtained;
  • voter ID (INE card) from abroad;
  • and other consular procedures.

If you are in Mexico, read the guide to the Mexican passport in Mexico. Our consulate guides cover the ones in the United States, where these procedures are requested most: Mexican consulates in the U.S., passport, dual nationality and voter ID.

Procedures with the SAT

For individuals and legal entities:

  • e.firma, for the first time or when it can no longer be renewed online;
  • registration in the RFC;
  • other procedures that require an appointment at a SAT office.

The guide to SAT procedures explains which ones need an appointment, how CitaSAT works and what to do if there are no time slots.
